Utete,TZ – YPM family garden – 20 Sep 2013

The YPM family has been harvesting okra, mchicha and Chinese cabbage.  The eggplant and African eggplant have been getting close to harvest time.  Mama sold 2,400TZS of Chinese cabbage last week and supplied all of the family’s vegetable needs from the garden.  The youngest daughter has enjoyed helping her parents in the garden too!  Never too young to start gardening!

Chickens have been getting through the fence and eating some of the vegetables, so the family has been looking for a way to improve the fence.  The dry season is in full effect so they have been making sure the mulch cover was sufficient to reduce water evaporation.
