Mission
Our mission is to help disadvantaged families and children improve their lives.
Families – achieve sustainable food and income self-reliance so that they can enjoy good health, education and income.
Children – grow up healthy, educated and trained to earn an income so that they can support happy families of their own.
Core Values
The core values of Ownership, Goodwill, Wisdom and Purpose help family members consider what to prioritize when making important decisions today that impact the future. These core values are learned over time from:
Support – from family for developing a strong sense of Ownership for what you do.
Spirit – encouraged by family for developing Goodwill with others.
Skill – developed through education and experience for contributing Wisdom when working with others.
Success – from your endeavors for developing the confidence and courage to pursue a helpful Purpose.
Methodology- Our Approach
We collaborate with disadvantaged families, schools and communities to develop and implement solutions for self-reliance that are holistic and sustainable.
Collaborate – with our partners, who do the same with families, schools and communities, to understand people’s challenges and the root causes of those challenges.
Holistic – combines people, process and parts to create solutions for self-reliance that address the root causes of challenges.
Sustainable – by the families themselves throughout the life cycle of the solution, enabling them to move towards food, income, and education self-reliance.
Methodology- Path to Self-Reliance
The path passes through six stages that lead to parents’ vision of their children growing up healthy, educated and able to earn an income. Disadvantaged rural families often focus on accessing water and nourishing the soil during the first two stages of this path:
Access Resources – like land, water, renewable energy and money.
Apply Knowledge – about the organization of people, process and parts for designing and implementing solutions for self-reliance.
Strengthen Health – with good sanitation, nutrition and hygiene.
Earn Income – by saving and investing in productive assets.
Improve Home – by renting-to-own, improving or building a home.
Enhance Education – by building toilets and wash basins, growing breakfast and hygiene training.
Methodology – Sustainable Solutions
Sustainable solutions help families and communities move towards food and income self-reliance by delivering predictable value and continuously improving quality.
Predictable – Create simple and repeatable processes for productive assets to deliver the expected benefits.
Delivers Value – Maximize return on time, energy, and money so that outputs are consistently greater than inputs.
Continuously Improved – Identify root causes of successes and challenges to make small improvements over time and achieve lowest total cost of ownership operating costs.
