Battambang, KH – Family home based shop increases income – 30 Apr 2018
The VSV family have saved some money in order to establish a small shop in their home for selling vegetables and other household items.
The Healthy Life garden shop team assisted the family with building a vegetable garden back in 2015. Since then, the family has cared for their garden and kept it green and productive. They would like to work in their garden all year round, but the lack of water during the dry season forces them to plant vegetables seasonally during the wet season.
They have put a lot of effort into the garden because they receive many benefits from it. The production from the garden and a pig loan has helped the family eat healthily and increase their income by selling vegetables from the garden and other activities. This has enabled them to save money for starting the home based shop.
Their dream is to support their three children to go to university, and after that build a house. They hope that selling vegetables and shop items will earn them enough income to support their living costs, children’s study and later on building their home.
They are a good example to other families in their village because they are progressing along the path to self-reliance.
