Moshi, TZ – GMM family garden update – 22 Aug 2013
The GMM family established a garden with the help of the Tupendane garden team. Together, they planted 2 beds each of kale, eggplants, Ngogwe (African eggplant), cow peas, and okra, leaving 2 beds empty/fallow for later relay planting. Relay planting being a re-planting schedule that provides a continuous vegetable harvest throughout the year. The GMM family will benefit from not only the healthy food and income from selling excess vegetables, but will also benefit from the organic gardening knowledge.
While planting the GMM vegetable garden, the team discovered a bee hive very near the garden. Everyone was stung at least once and thank goodness no one was allergic! In the end it ended up giving everyone a good laugh and the GMM family are going to help relocate the hive.
